Lofty ceilings, open spaces and expansive windows bathe the interiors with light, while their extensive terrace areas offer sought after outdoor seating. We explored the event spaces to hire at The Lighterman before sitting for lunch.
For those looking for an intimate setting, the indoor Canalside Bar Area offers a cosy atmosphere perfect for gatherings of up to 40-80 or 32 seated guests, with the option to partially hire an area on the terrace. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by smiling staff, instantly making us feel at home. Our lunchtime service was impeccable. The servers were knowledgeable, and our glasses were never empty. The arrival of each dish was perfectly timed, giving us the perfect amount of time to dine and chat. The positivity and professionalism demonstrated reassures us our clients will be in safe hands when booking their events at The Lighterman.
The Lighterman offers a menu of modern British dishes, featuring produce sourced from local farms and seasonal, sustainable ingredients. During our visit, we had the pleasure of tasting several delicious dishes. The St Ives Monkfish Scampi with curry tartare was a standout, perfectly cooked with a delicate blend of flavours. The Burrata with grilled peach and toasted almonds was a delightful combination of creamy and crunchy textures, while the 32-day salt-aged Chateaubriand was simply melt-in-the-mouth perfection, displaying their commitment to quality ingredients and expert preparation. A must-try for our next visit will be their popular flatbreads. Freshly made, generously topped and wood fired, we hear they’re a hit with event attendees. With toppings which include courgette, pea & lovage pesto, macadamia cheese, or Suffolk chorizo, fennel, smoked mozzarella, and chilli, we’re not surprised by their popularity.
