While many Londoners basked in the Bank Holiday sun with their Pimms, we were on a mission to discover fresh and exciting venues for our clients. And what a mission it was, especially as we had the pleasure of experiencing Sagardi firsthand. Welcomed with a refreshing glass of natural cider, we dived into our research with gusto.
Sagardi Basque Country Chefs brings the vibrant, seasonal cuisine of the Basque region to the chic heart of Shoreditch. This stylish yet relaxed space blends rich wooden tables with tall glass displays, showcasing prime aged beef and some of the finest wines we’ve ever tasted (more on that shortly). The charming Pincho bar at the front is perfect for a quick bite or a casual drink. The large charcoal grill room takes center stage, and the aroma of flame-grilled steaks was simply irresistible. As we toured the venue, we were struck by its versatility. The spacious restaurant can accommodate groups of all sizes, while the expansive basement level offers a private space that can be partitioned for more intimate events. Equipped with a projector and boardroom-style tables, it's ideal for meetings and banquets alike. Our host mentioned that some guests start with a morning meeting and stay on well into the evening. After experiencing their hospitality, it’s easy to see why.
We savored the white asparagus and artichokes grilled with ham, each mouthful more delectable than the last. As we enjoyed these dishes, we watched the highlight of the meal being prepared over the lapping flames of the grill. Sagardi selects prime beef from six-year-old cattle, aging each cut for different periods (five weeks in our case). Salted, seared, and sliced from the bone, this stunningly delicious steak will be remembered for many meals to come. After a selection of artisan cheeses and a traditional warm strawberry dessert, we were beyond satisfied and already planning our next visit. It was truly a wonderful dining experience.
